IMPERIAL CUSCO

In this tour you will join a guided tour to explore Cusco and the most important monuments of the city and its surroundings. Then, we will leave Cusco to visit the impressive circular and semi-circular terraces in Moray and the Maras Salt Mines.

Next. We  will travel to  visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the Peruvian Andes, it is composed by numerous rivers that descend by deep gorges and beautiful valleys; It has numerous archaeological monuments and traditional towns, cradle of culture, history and great agricultural wealth, as well as a perfect place to learn about the habitants of this ancient Empire. Continuing with the trip we will arrive at the citadel of Machu Picchu, the most important destination of Peru, in the heart of the mountains. There you can walk through narrow paths and between impressive stone walls; it will expand your knowledge about the Incas during a guided tour.

DAY 1: WELCOME TO CUSCO & CITY TOUR

DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY TOUR- AGUAS CALIENTES (B / BL)

• Pick up at the arranged time.
• Day tour of the enchanting Sacred Valley.
• Pisaq traditional market is a living outdoor museum.
• Visit Pisaq archaeological site I the mountain.
• Lunch at a local restaurant.
• Visit Ollantaytambo, a place where Incan stonemasons expressed their talent and genius.
• Train journey to Aguas Calientes.
• You will be picked up by our staff who will take you to your hotel.

DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU TOUR (B / L)

• Transfer by bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu (RT)
• Early tour of Machu Picchu with local guide.
• Discover the mysterious site which was never found by gold-hungry Spaniards.
• 5 hours guided tour around the ancient citadel.
• Bus back down to Aguas Calientes.
• Delicious lunch in a nice restaurant.
• Train journey back to Ollanta or Poroy station.
• Transfer by bus from the train station to Cusco city.
• Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 5: CUSCO FAREWELL (B)

• Departure from Cusco.
• Pick up from your hotel.
• Transfer to airport for your flight home.

DAY 1: WELCOME TO CUSCO & CITY TOUR

You will be picked up at your arrival to Cusco and transferred to your hotel.
We recommend you take some time to rest to get acclimatized to the altitude of the city of Cusco (its elevation is around 3,400m or 11,200ft above sea level).

In the afternoon at around 13.30 a bus will pick you up and take you around the northern Cusco where we will visit the ancient Inca and pre-Inca constructions Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Pucapucara and Tambomachay. Then we will explore the city center with its pre-Inca, Inca and colonial streets, visit the Inca temple “Koricancha” (The Sun’s Temple) and finally the Cathedral in the main square.

At around 18.30, our tour will finish at the main square or at your hotel. Just let the guide know where you would like to go in advance.

DAY 2: MORAY & MARAS SALT MINE TOUR (B)

8:30 am: Our bus will wait for you at your hotel to start the trip to Maras, Moray and the Salt Mines.
MORAY: It was in the Inca Period an important agricultural laboratory, a center of acclimatization and hybridization of wild vegetable species that were modified and adapted for the human consumption.

Then our journey continues to the Salt Mines located exactly at 7km from this last point. Arriving to the Maras town, we will find at the Norwest of this one the famous Salt Mines of Maras. That are composed by 3000 small pits built in one side of the mountain ¨Qaqawiñay”, that are irrigated each three days during the dry season by the salty water coming from underground springs located on top of the mountain. Then after the water evaporation, the salt contained in this one, becomes solid so slowly. This process lasts approximately one month, to have the enough quantity to be extracted and processed for the human consumption.

On the way back to Cusco, we will once again enjoy wonderful views of the nearby Andes Mountains. Once in Cusco, we will drop you to your hotel.

finishing the tour, the bus will bring us back to Cusco around 14:30pm

DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY TOUR- AGUAS CALIENTES (B / L)

In the morning we will pick you up at your hotel at about 8.00 am and travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a tranquil oasis of cultural, historical, and agricultural richness just 45 minutes from Cusco where the Incas once built important cities such as Pisac and Ollantaytambo. We will enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape during the day. Our first stop will be the typical handicraft market of Pisaq for then visiting the impressive archaeological park of Pisac. After a delicious Buffet Lunch in Urubamba (Muña Restaurant).

We will continue our tour through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo to visit its Inca ruins. It is the second archaeological place after Machupicchu in importance order.
After the tour your guide will left you at the train station to take the train to Aguas calientes (Machupicchu).

Arriving to the train station, we will be waiting for you to go to your hotel. Where our guide will contact you to give you the last recommendations for your next amazing tour in the morning.

DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU TOUR (B / L)

We start our tour to Machu Picchu in the morning taking the bus up to Machu Picchu citadel to explore one of the New World 7 Wonders.

Our tour of one of the Seven Wonders of the World will last for 2.5 hours enough time for the contemplation of the amazing scenery. We will explore the Intiwatana (Sun’s Conection Shrine), the Condor Temple, the Three Windows Temple, Andean terraces, and other places of interest.

You will have enough time to walk around the archeological complex, capture these incredible memories with your camera, feel and appreciate the energy and peacefulness of this sacred place.

***Another option – for those who love the action – is hiking up to Wayna Picchu, the Young Mountain (previous booking is necessary – only 400 tickets are sold daily).

In the afternoon you will go back to the town to get your lunch and after take the train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy staion from where you will return to Cusco by bus from there to finally overnight in your hotel in Cusco.

DAY 5: CUSCO FAREWELL (B)

Transfer to the airport according to the flight departure.
